If you’re buying a firearm online for shipment to Georgia, this is what to expect. Our Georgia FFL handles the shipping side; your local FFL handles the receiving.
Step 1: Find a Local Georgia FFL
Any licensed FFL dealer can receive your transfer. Most charge $25-75 for the transfer (handgun and long guns; NFA items may cost more). Ask:
- What is the transfer fee?
- Do you accept online transfers? (most do — they’re a revenue stream)
- When are you open for receiving shipments?
- Any additional fees for restricted items?
Step 2: Send Your FFL Info to Us
When you check out, provide your FFL’s name, address, and license number (or email your FFL directly to send us the info). We ship from our Georgia FFL to theirs via secure freight.
Step 3: Complete Form 4473
When your firearm arrives at the local FFL, go in person to complete ATF Form 4473 and pass a NICS background check. Most GA NICS checks are instant. Bring valid Georgia ID with current address.
Step 4: Take Possession
Once Form 4473 clears and you pay the transfer fee to the local FFL, you take possession. Done. No state waiting period in Georgia.
