New Jersey Firearm Restrictions: What Can and Cannot Ship

New Jersey is one of the most restrictive states for firearms. Here’s exactly what we can ship to NJ and what’s prohibited.

What We Can Ship to New Jersey

  • Bolt action rifles (no AR/AK)
  • Shotguns (not semi-auto with pistol grips)
  • 10-round magazines
  • Handguns legal under NJ firearms permit
  • Non-restricted firearm parts

What We Cannot Ship to New Jersey

  • AR-15s and AK-variants — banned as assault weapons
  • Suppressors — banned entirely for civilian ownership
  • SBRs / SBSs — banned even with federal approval
  • Machine guns — banned
  • Magazines over 10 rounds — 10rd cap applies
  • Hollow-point ammunition — restricted for home use only, not transport

NJ Permits Required

NJ requires Firearms Purchaser Identification Card (FPIC) for rifles/shotguns plus a separate Permit to Purchase Handgun (PPH) for each handgun purchase. Processing can take months.

Ammunition to New Jersey

Standard lead ammunition can be shipped to NJ with FPIC. Hollow-point ammo has restrictions — legal for home storage but not for transport except home-to-range-to-home. We recommend buying hollow-points locally in NJ.
